Stage Editor (Advanced)
In the Stage Editor (Basic) we saw how to enter the sub-stages of an average speed table. In this chapter we look at the tools that will save you a lot of time when the rally gets complicated: sub-stage types, the sub-stage menu, stage management and the reference editor tools.
Sub-stage types
Each sub-stage has a type. To change it, tap the Sub Stage Type field (field 11 of the editor) and choose one of these options:
- S – Speed: regularity sub-stage at a set average speed. This is the default type. The Rabbit calculates the ideal time and beeps if you are late or early.
- L – Link: a link section, where you usually know the distance and the time you have to cover it. The Rabbit calculates the average speed, but the ideal time beeps do not sound. On the navigation screen you will see the letter L and the duration of the link.
- N – Neutral: a stop or neutralisation. Enter the same final distance as the initial one and the duration of the stop. During the neutral, the ideal position stays at the start of the next sub-stage and the beeps do not sound either.
In addition, every time you change sub-stage the Rabbit tells you by voice: whether to speed up, slow down or keep the speed, or the duration of the link or neutral.
Sub-stage menu
The Add/Remove Sub-stage button (field 18 of the editor) on each line opens a menu with these options:
- Add Above: inserts a new sub-stage above this one.
- Add Below: inserts a new sub-stage below this one.
- Add Many Below: the Rabbit asks how many sub-stages you want and inserts them all at once. Very useful for long average speed tables.
- Remove: deletes this sub-stage.
- Remove all before: deletes all the sub-stages before this one.
After adding or deleting sub-stages, the editor recalculates all the data. Don't forget to send the stage to the Navigator.
Stages Manager
In addition to the options we saw in the basic editor, the Stages Manager button has these tools:
- Duplicate: creates a copy of the selected stage. It is useful to prepare a variant of the stage without touching the original.
- Export: saves all your stages in an .RBE file and opens your phone's share menu to send it via WhatsApp, email, Drive, etc. This way you can move the stages to another tablet or to your team mate.
- Import: loads an .RBE file (stages exported from another Rabbit), an .XLSX file (Excel template) or a digital roadbook .RBK (more details).
- Change Speeds: adds or subtracts the km/h you enter to all the speeds of the selected stage. For example, if the organisers lower all the averages by 5 km/h because of rain, enter -5 and the Rabbit recalculates the whole stage.
Important! Importing an .RBE file replaces all the stages you have in the editor with the ones in the file. If you want to keep yours, export them first.
On Android you can also tap an .RBE file received via WhatsApp or email and open it with Rabbit Rally to import it.
Reference Editor tools
In the stage's reference editor (References button), the “+” button opens a menu with these tools:
- Automatic Record: creates references every X metres while you drive the stage. See Reference Editor (Automatic GPS Adjustment).
- Import and Export: saves the stage's references to a file or loads them from one. It is a good idea to export after recording references so you have a copy.
- Generate from stage: deletes the stage's references and creates one reference at the start of each sub-stage and another at the end of the stage. This way you can use the RoadBook screen and the reference countdown even without a digital roadbook.
- Adjust references distances (%): applies a percentage to the distance of all references. 100 leaves the distances as they are, 101 increases them by 1% and 99 reduces them by 1%. It is useful if your references were measured with a different calibration from the organiser's.
- Adjust Refs. Km with Org. Km: recalculates all the references from the references where you entered the Org. Km. See Reference Editor (Automatic GPS Adjustment).
