External References and Waypoints

External references are signs or waypoints where we don't know the measurement until we get there, but we know in advance the passing time or the average speed that we will change when passing by. In order to identify this point, in the roadbook you will have a photo or some other information that will allow you to identify this reference, so you can discover its mileage during this stage. Let's see how this works in Rabbit.

  1. Open the Stage Editor screen.
  2. Select the stage you want to modify.
  3. Include the external references in the stage editor.
  4. Since you don't know the exact distance of the reference, enter a value in this field that should be between the previous and the next reference, as close as possible to the next reference.
  5. Mark the last column Ext. Ref. (Red).

6. If necessary, repeat the same for all external references of the stage.
7. Now just enter the start time, send to the navigator and wait for your start time.

  1. When the next average speed change is an external reference, the Rabbit will indicate this by showing a yellow bar with the text “Set final odometer distance”. At this moment you must be attentive to find this reference visually.
  2. When you are close to the reference, press the yellow bar and when passing exactly by the reference, confirm by pressing the OK button.

3. The Rabbit will do the calculations for you and you can proceed to the next waypoint by repeating the previous steps with the yellow bar.

Note: If you use the Rabbit Box, the yellow button serves to confirm the reference point (same as the OK button) without needing to touch the screen.
