Calibration Stage

Creating a quality calibration stage is fundamental for having a quality roadbook!

To prepare a calibration stage we measure and draw it using the GPS Garmin GLO and R = 1 (Roadbook Designer calibration).

By doing this, novice competitors who do not carry a measurement device, who use the phone's GPS, or who do not calibrate will have a measurement very close to the event's measurement.

Tips for producing a quality calibration stage:

  • It should not have intersections or roundabouts, to avoid the competitor having doubts about how to drive it.
  • It should be a road with little traffic.
  • It should be possible to stop at the start and end points without risk of accidents.
  • Place its start at a kilometer marker.
  • The end of the stage at another marker about 5 kilometers from there.
  • Always measure the calibration stage in the center of the right lane, making it easier to repeat without varying the driving line.

The steps to draw the calibration stage are:

  1. Connect the GPS Garmin GLO
  2. Open the Roadbook Designer
  3. In Connections, select GPS and connect
  4. In Calibration, tap R and change to 1
  5. In Navigation
  1. Stop at the start of the Calibration Stage
  2. Set the odometer to zero
  3. Add reference
  4. Draw the vignette
  5. Tap on the information cell (3rd cell)
  6. Prepare to take photo
  7. Reverse
  8. Take the photo and OK
  9. Return to the start of the stage
  10. Mark that you are at reference 1
  11. Drive to the end of the calibration (keeping to the center of the right lane)
  12. Stop at the end point of the calibration
  13. Add reference and repeat steps 4 to 8
  14. Save the file

Done! At this point your Calibration Stage is almost ready, we will finish it later back at the office. Now it is time to Calibrate with the Rabbit Box to measure the rally as precisely as possible using the sensors.
